On December 1, Joseph and Melissa were married in Philadelphia, PA. They had met through Mit Mazel three months earlier, right before Rosh Hashanah.
Joe looked at several Mit Mazel profiles, but Melissa's was the only one that stood out. He signed up with Mit Mazel so he could find out how to contact her, through her sponsor. Joe contacted Melissa's sponsor right before Rosh Hashanah.
Melissa had been a part of Mit Mazel for a couple of months by this time. She was unsure if she wanted to meet a guy that was such a long distance away. Melissa was living in Philadelphia, PA and Joe was living in Orlando, FL at that time. "I got as far as 'He lives in Orlando', and I said, 'Forget it.' I did not even read the rest of his profile."
On Monday, Melissa was davening and she added a special prayer, "I wanted a man who was honest with himself and Hashem. I did not care if the man did not observe Shabbat and Kashruth right now, as long as he knew within himself that that was the type of home that he wanted to have in the future."
Melissa decided to reread Joe's profile later that day. "After reading his profile, I felt that Joe was basically what I had asked for earlier that day." She contacted Joe through email, and they made a phone date for right after Rosh Hashanah. "When Joe told me that the whole reason he signed up for Mit Mazel was to meet me, how could I not do a phone call?"
The conversation went very well. They talked about 2 or 3 times a week, 2 or 3 hours at a time. By the end of a month, they both had a pretty good idea about the other person. Joe was coming up to Philadelphia for his brother's wedding, so he made arrangements to meet Melissa. They spent several days together, and by the end of the week they were engaged. About two months later they were married.
Right now they are living in Orlando, Florida.
